Redpath Sugar Joins Forces to Fight Student Hunger at Chefs for Change

Redpath Sugar proudly hosted the second annual Chefs for Change event, to fight the challenge of childhood hunger. Organized in support of the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS), this meaningful fundraiser brought the community together for an evening of culinary artistry and community spirit.

The heart of this event is beautifully simple yet profoundly important: nourishing students in Toronto schools who need our support. 

By the evening's end, attendees, sponsors and partners came together to raise over $1 million. All proceeds flow directly to support students in need through the TFSS, an organization that has spent nearly three decades thoughtfully removing barriers, so children are nourished and ready to learn.

“This year’s Chefs for Change was a memorable and uplifting experience,” said Vikram Chowdhury, Business Development Manager. “The energy in the room was excellent, and it was impressive to see so many talented chefs coming together around a cause that truly matters. It was a strong reminder of how powerful an event can be when food, community and purpose come together.”

Rather than a traditional sit-down dinner, Chefs for Change offered an interactive and meaningful culinary experience. The event turned delicious food and vibrant entertainment into direct support for children in our community. Held at St. Lawrence Market North in downtown Toronto, the venue hummed with positive energy as guests moved from station to station, savoring gourmet dishes from talented local chefs.

The heartwarming theme of the evening invited chefs to reimagine nostalgic childhood foods into elevated, gourmet masterpieces. 

The success of Chefs for Change flows from the collective heart of our community. From the dedicated chefs who generously donated their time and talent to the sponsors who thoughtfully covered essential costs, every contribution mattered. The event demonstrated that when we join our resources and focus on a shared purpose, we can create meaningful change that touches lives.

As part of our support for the cause, Redpath Sugar proudly sponsored a chef table featuring Chef Marvin Palomo of Liliana Restaurant. Chef Palomo embraced the childhood nostalgia theme with wonderful creativity. He crafted a stunning, reimagined peanut butter and jelly sandwich, presented as a delicate millefoglie which is a traditional Italian layered dessert.

"Seeing our community rally behind these students fills us with immense pride and gratitude," Vikram added. "We are truly honored to be part of an initiative that directly nurtures the health and future of our local youth."

Thanks to the incredible generosity shown at Chefs for Change, thousands of students who might otherwise go without will receive nourishing meals and build brighter futures. While the event was a heartwarming success, Redpath Sugar remains dedicated to addressing student hunger and will continue to support organizations like the Toronto Foundation for Student Success.
