In a vibrant celebration of wellness, community and tradition, our company Ingenio San Nicolás (ISN) recently held its 4th annual Sugar Race at the sports field of the San Nicolás Housing Unit in Cuichapa, Veracruz, Mexico. Designed to promote sports and strengthen community engagement, this year’s race once again brought together families and friends for a day full of energy and enthusiasm.
“This successful event was made possible through the collective effort and coordination of multiple departments,” said Maria Eugenia Jimenez, Assistant General Manager at ISN. “We’re grateful to the Donations Committee, Social Communications team, San Nicolás Sugar Mill Workers' Union, Human Resources, IT, Civil Works, Property Security, EHS, Medical Services, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing and everyone else whose contributions helped carry on this fun tradition for our community.”
A total of 124 runners participated, competing across three age categories: children, youth and adults. Winners in both male and female divisions received prizes of 25-kg sacks of sugar, awarded to first, second and third place finishers.
After the race, the celebration continued with a Children’s Day festival featuring a lively mini fair, sugar sack races, a children’s soccer tournament and family-friendly games. Attendees enjoyed music, cake, goodie bags, ice cream and traditional dishes—all provided at no cost.
“The events earned high praise from attendees, who appreciated both the organization and the welcoming, community-focused environment,” said Maria Eugenia. “Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the 4th Sugar Race and Children’s Day a memorable and meaningful experience for our community.”
