Our company Tate & Lyle Sugars has been recognized as a longstanding supporter of East London's Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA), receiving a NASSA Inspirational Partner Award at the charity’s 2024 Recognition Awards.

NASSA, a charity partner of Tate & Lyle Sugars for more than 15 years, engages disadvantaged young people across East London to play basketball in a fun and safe environment. The charity provides mentoring talks and sessions educating young people on the dangers of knife crime and gang culture, and the opportunity to gain basketball coaching, officiating, and first aid qualifications. In addition to financial support and volunteers, we also provide NASSA with office space free of charge at our Thames Refinery.

The awards ceremony was attended by 50 guests and featured cultural performances as NASSA celebrated its own heroes and thanked them for their wonderful contributions to the charity.

“Words are not enough to recognize the contributions that all of the winners have made to NASSA over the past year,” said NASSA Founder and Chief Executive Natasha Hart MBE. “Without its wonderful people, NASSA simply wouldn’t exist, and we wouldn’t be able to support hundreds of local disadvantaged young people every year through our mentoring programs. Our long-term partners are just as valued by NASSA. It is not just the funding they commit to NASSA every year, but their passion and dedication to the communities they serve.”

NASSA Patron, Rt. Hon. Sir Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham, presented the Inspirational Partner Award to Claire Crill, Head of Corporate Affairs, Tate & Lyle Sugars.

“Newham All Star Sports Academy has made a wonderful contribution to Newham since 2006 and we are proud to support their goal to build ambitious, successful and responsible young adults,” said Claire.
