For the second consecutive year, our company Ingenio San Nicolás (ISN) in Veracruz, Mexico has been awarded the Distinguished Recognition Award by Mexico's Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources under the Transporte Limpio (Clean Freight) program for our commitment to sustainable freight practices. This award, based on improvements made from the 2022 to 2023 cycle, recognizes efforts to reduce environmental impact and enhance transportation efficiency.
Transporte Limpio is a freight emissions tracking initiative that helps companies advance supply chain sustainability. It is an extension of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-sponsored SmartWay program, in which ISN also participates as a shipper partner in the U.S. and Canada. Through these programs, we have demonstrated our dedication to sustainability by carefully selecting carriers that prioritize reducing emissions and fuel consumption.
“Carriers that contribute to this rating implement practices such as engine retrofits, enhanced aerodynamics, fuel-efficient tires and advanced logging systems to minimize environmental impact,” said Renaldy Tapia, International Logistics Lead, Global Supply Chain.
For the 2023 cycle, ISN was graded with an excellent sustainability rating, reflecting its efforts to improve transportation sustainability through detailed data tracking, including kilometers traveled, fuel usage and carrier performance. More than 75% of ISN’s freight was moved using Transporte Limpio-certified carriers.
Our continued recognition highlights our focus on advancing sustainability in freight operations and our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental footprint throughout our supply chain.
