As we continue to work toward our decarbonization goals, we are excited to announce the launch of an ambitious new climate agreement between our company Tate & Lyle Sugars, the Royal Docks Enterprise Zone, the London Borough of Newham and other key anchor organizations in our Newham community to help London reach net-zero by 2030.
The agreement will support the Royal Docks – the home of our Thames Refinery and Plaistow Plant – in its bid to reduce carbon emissions as it becomes a more sustainable urban development and take climate action that delivers better outcomes for people who live, work and visit the Royal Docks. The partnership will also serve as a best practice case study for other areas in London that are also working toward a better climate transition at a neighborhood level.
In addition to the climate agreement, the cohort have committed to working together to accelerate and enhance the speed of climate transition plans in Newham, holding each other to account and collaborating on joint initiatives from tree planting to the development of green skills and the sharing of expertise to address key challenges.
“We are proud to be a signatory and anchor institution of the Royal Docks Sustainability Network. The journey to achieve net zero is complex and a monumental challenge, we can achieve more by working together, which is why this group is so important,” said Claire Crill, Head of Corporate Affairs.
