Appointment Arrival Policies for Chalmette Refinery

The Chalmette Refinery is an appointment-only facility. All drivers must have an appointment and pick-up number (800#) upon arrival at the refinery. Please note that arriving with a clean trailer will help decrease loading time.

  • Arrival Window: Drivers can arrive no more than 30min prior or 1hr after the appointment while the shipping department is open.
  • Early Arrivals: Drivers who arrive early between 11pm the day before and 11am the day of their appointment may be given a door if the product is available and space allows. Otherwise, the gate will advise the driver to return at the time of their appointment.
  • Late Arrivals: It is always best to reschedule based on availability in BluJay to secure a door. Drivers arriving later than 1hr past their appointment may be worked in at the Refinery’s discretion between 7pm through 11am the following day, while the shipping department is open. If returning the next day, rescheduling in BluJay is the ONLY way to ensure the driver will be loaded. During bake season (October – December) there is little to no availability for work-ins and carriers will need to reschedule their appointment based on availability in BluJay.

Trailer rejection

  • What are the reasons a trailer would be rejected: Trailers must be FOOD GRADE (Clean, Dry, Odor Free, No Holes, No more than 5 missing rivets or 2 missing rivets on the same cross member). You will be rejected if you have problems in any of the above categories.
  • Trailer must be swept out prior to arrival at the facilities you will not be able to sweep out once inside the facilities and will be rejected for dirty trailers.
  • Trucks must come in full on fuel as they will be scaled in and out at the refinery.

What to do if your trailer is rejected - Correct the reason for rejection, reschedule your pick up and resubmit for inspection, or replace with a different trailer.

Scaling in and out

  • The driver will be able to scale in at the Refinery. Meyers does not have a scale.
  • Once loaded the driver must put the seal on the trailer prior to leaving the shipping department.
  • At the Refinery, the driver needs to check axle weight before scaling out at the refinery’s scale. If the driver is not satisfied with the axle weight he is not to scan out but notify the guards.
